Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is an innovative art that pairs people with horses.
The process is confidential, nonjudgmental, and conducted out-of-doors giving the individual a relationship with nature and horses. However, it is real therapy in that the individual will obtain many life skills such as adjusting attitudes, patience, boundaries, and mutual respect.
Individuals overcome fears, frustrations, and develop self confidence in how to communicate well with another living being. They can plainly see many patterns of their behaviors that are affective and those that prove futile.
Equus Outreach practices the EAGALA model. This model involves ground work exclusively: no mounted work. Not only is ground work safer; but, it has been to be even richer therapeutically.
